Stefanini Group Merger with Cyber Smart Defence

Stefanini Group has initiated its merger with Cyber Smart Defence effective August 28, 2025. This strategic move aims to acquire 100% of Cyber Smart Defence, solidifying a partnership that began in 2020. The merger is a part of Stefanini's strategy to strengthen its cybersecurity business unit.

“The Smart Defence acquisition was a game-changer for our clients in Romania and across Europe and this merger is a strategic step forward,” said Farlei Kothe, CEO of Stefanini Group’s North America, APAC, and EMEA regions.

The merger aligns with Stefanini’s recent reorganization into seven business units, including a dedicated global Cybersecurity unit. This reorganization follows the company's acquisition of over 40 entities aimed at enhancing its cybersecurity capabilities.

Expansion of Cybersecurity Portfolio

In April 2024, Stefanini Group announced its acquisition of Protega, a leading Brazilian cybersecurity firm. This acquisition is part of a $200 million investment plan directed towards new acquisitions by 2026, particularly in the cybersecurity domain.

“As the cybersecurity market continues to grow, this acquisition will allow us to proactively shield companies of different sizes across many industries from financial and reputational losses,” stated Marco Stefanini, founder and global CEO.

Protega specializes in managed security services and is expected to contribute at least $50 million in global revenue for 2024. With over 22 years of experience and nearly 10,000 completed security projects, Protega significantly enhances Stefanini’s cybersecurity platform.

Strategic Joint Venture with Cyber Smart Defence

Stefanini has formed a strategic joint venture with Cyber Smart Defence in Romania. This partnership aims to expand Stefanini's cybersecurity offerings, adding services like penetration and vulnerability testing.

“Romania has been a growth engine and innovation driver for our group,” says Farlei Kothe, CEO, Stefanini EMEA.

Cyber Smart Defence will operate independently, maintaining its management while leveraging Stefanini's global resources to enhance its service offerings. The collaboration is expected to generate new business streams both locally and internationally.
